R.A. Reed Productions Pairs With The Production Network On Microsoft Projects PORTLAND, Ore. - Oct. 30, 2000 - R.A. Reed Productions, a Portland-based scenic and staging company, teamed up with The Production Network of Seattle to build sets for this year's Microsoft Global Summit and Microsoft Company Meeting. Reed Productions provided all scaffolding, flooring and custom scrim work for the company meeting, which was held at Seattle's Safeco Field Sept. 5. The project was a challenge in that none of the staging, scenery, video, lights, sound or personnel could impact the baseball field's grass. To accommodate this requirement, Reed Productions constructed a 300-foot road that led to a custom-built bridge over the grass on the infield of the baseball diamond's first base line. "Because the company meeting occurred in the middle of baseball season, a clean load-in and load-out was mandatory," explained project manager Bob Zavada. "We were pleased that the design of our makeshift roadway and bridge allowed for a smooth execution of the project." The Georgia Dome in Atlanta provided the setting for this year's Microsoft Global Summit July 16 through 23. Reed Productions was again hired by The Production Network to provide all the staging, scaffolding and scenery for the summit, which was held for the benefit of the company's international sales team. Out of 10 semi-trailers loaded with sets and equipment, the largest set piece was a 60-foot-high "Tower of Power" that translated into a five-story building with stair access to six different floors, and included a 60-foot by 80-foot roof-rigged drop that covered the entire structure when necessary. Reed Productions has worked with The Production Network previously on other projects for Microsoft, Intel and Washington Mutual. Reed Productions is an industry leader in theatrical staging and scenery. The company is located at 955 N. Columbia Blvd., Building A.
